An AI agent for the music industry is software that doesn't just answer questions about music data: it does the work. It plans releases, pulls streaming numbers, pitches curators, registers works and posts to social, using the services a music team already depends on. Chatmu 4.0 is that agent, and it is a new product built from scratch.
Updated October 2026.
I'm Chema Rodriguez, founder of Chatmu. I'm a producer and sound engineer, and I run a label with around 500 tracks and about ten music YouTube channels. Chatmu 4.0 is the tool I wanted for that job: one place where an agent knows my artists, my catalog and my calendar, and gets things done while I make music.
Chatmu is an AI agent for the music industry with its own catalog of music-industry MCP connectors. Our tagline sums it up: AI for the industry, humans for the music. You make the music, Chatmu handles the rest, with 140+ skills, 15 AI specialists and connections to the tools you already use.
Until now, most people knew Chatmu as an MCP server: a data layer you plugged into Claude or ChatGPT to get artist analytics, distribution, networking and video tools. That server still exists (more on that below). Chatmu 4.0 is different. It is a full agent with its own harness: memory, workspaces, a connector catalog, a team of specialists, scheduled work and a WhatsApp line. It is not an update of the old MCP. It is a new product, available in English, Spanish, French and Chinese.
That is what agentic AI in the music industry should mean: not a chatbot with charts, but a system that takes a goal ("plan this single") and executes the steps across every service involved.
Every artist gets a workspace with their own files: an artist.md with who they are and where they are going, their catalog, and a moodboard. The agent reads these before it works and keeps them updated after. When you ask for a pitch email in March, it already knows the single you released in January and the playlists that picked it up.
Chatmu remembers decisions, contacts and preferences across conversations. You don't re-explain your artist's genre, markets or release strategy every session.
The Vibe Board is an infinite moodboard canvas for each artist: references, covers, colors, visual ideas. It gives the agent (and your designer) a shared picture of the aesthetic, so creative work like videos and social posts stays on brand.
Think of Claude's connectors, but every one of them built for the music business. The catalog at launch:
| Connector | What it does | Who it's for |
|---|---|---|
| Chatmu core | Artist analytics, distribution, networking CRM, Fans DNA, video, social | Everyone |
| The MLC (built by Chatmu) | Work search, ISRC lookup, catalog audit, ownership resolution, registration drafts and validation, bulk export | Publishers, songwriters, labels |
| Credits.fm | ISRC, ISWC, IPI, ISNI and UPC lookups | Labels, publishers, admins |
| MusicBrainz | Open music metadata | Labels, A&R, catalog teams |
| Mogul | Royalties | Artists, managers, royalty admins |
| AudD | Song recognition | Labels, publishers, sync teams |
| Splice | Samples | Producers, artists |
| Epidemic Sound | Licensed music catalog | Video and content teams |
| Higgsfield | AI video | Marketing, artists |
| HeyGen | AI avatars | Marketing, content teams |
| Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, X | Publishing | Artists, managers, social teams |
| OpenStage | Fan CRM | Artists, fan engagement |

| Airtable | Databases | Labels, operations |
| Canva | Design | Marketing, artists |
You can also add your own MCP servers with OAuth, set permissions per tool (so the agent can read but not write, for example), and connectors that ship app widgets render them right inside the chat. If you want the background on MCP itself, read our complete guide to MCP in the music industry.
Yes. You chat with Val, your AI manager, on WhatsApp, in the same thread as the web. Linking takes one click (code or QR). Voice notes are transcribed, PDFs and reports arrive in the chat, and the results of scheduled tasks are delivered there too. You can even send a master and cover art from your phone and attach them to a distribution release. We'll go deeper on WhatsApp in a dedicated post.
In Team Mode, Val routes each request to a persistent specialist, each with its own thread, memory and personality, or hires a new one. There are 15 role templates: Manager, A&R, Release Manager, Distribution, Publishing & Legal, Booking & Live, Analytics & Strategy, Marketing & Social, Playlist Strategist, Sync & Licensing, Publicist & PR, Royalties & Admin, Video Editor, Fan Engagement and Tour & Live. Heavy jobs can fan out to parallel sub-agents: three Chatmus working at the same time.
Agent Jobs are autonomous recurring workers assigned to a role. Templates include Talent Scout, Date Hunter, Weekly Streaming Report, Press Outreach, Full Release Plan and Video Batch Render. You set them up once and they keep working.
Underneath sit the features Chatmu users already rely on: distribution with ISRC and cover checks (artists keep 80% of royalties, and their music stays online if they cancel), a social composer and calendar across five networks, Fans DNA psychographic personas, the networking CRM, artist analytics, A&R discovery, festival and venue search, curator search, video creation and editing, and the AI Music Detector. For how this fits a whole career, see why your music career needs a system, not another tool.

Either, or both. They are two doors to the same platform.

On Saturday, October 31, we launch Chatmu Desktop for Mac (Apple silicon and Intel) and Windows, starting with Ableton Live; more DAWs are coming. It hears what Ableton is playing, acts on your set (tracks, mixer, MIDI, exports) and connects to everything above, so the agent that listens to your mix can also release it. It is not music made by AI. It is AI inside your DAW: you decide, everything stays editable, the stems are yours, and it sounds like you.
An AI system that executes music business tasks (analytics, releases, outreach, registrations, social posting) across connected services, instead of only answering questions. Chatmu 4.0 is built specifically for that.
