Updated October 2026.
The best MCP servers for the music industry in 2026 are Chatmu (an AI agent plus an MCP with 156 tools across analytics, catalog, distribution, networking, video and social), Soundcharts and Viberate for market data, Mogul for royalties, Artist Growth for operations, Epidemic Sound and Splice for music and samples, and open-source Ableton MCPs for producers. Most of them cover one area well, so the right choice depends on whether you need one data source or an agent that works across all of them.
I'm Chema Rodriguez, founder of Chatmu. I'm a producer and sound engineer, and I run a label with around 500 tracks and about ten music YouTube channels. Chatmu is first on this list because it's ours, but I'll be straight about where each of the others is strong. If MCP is new to you, start with our complete guide to MCP for the music industry.

Chatmu is an AI agent for the music industry with its own catalog of music-industry MCP connectors. You can use Chatmu 4.0 directly on the web and on WhatsApp, or plug Chatmu MCP into Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP client and get 156 tools for artist analytics, catalog, distribution, networking, video and social publishing. Inside the agent, the connectors catalog adds The MLC, Credits.fm, MusicBrainz, Mogul, AudD, Splice, Epidemic Sound, Notion and more, and you can add your own MCP servers with OAuth. A typical prompt: "Compare my last two singles' streams by city and draft a pitch to the curators who added the first one." Setup is at chatmu.io/mcp.
Viberate launched its official MCP server in July 2026 as part of an AI-first move for the company. It focuses on analytics: talent scouting, artist benchmarking, audience research, playlists and markets. There's a free tier plus paid tools. If you like Viberate's data and want it inside your assistant, this is the direct route: viberate.com/mcp-server.
The Soundcharts MCP server brings artists, songs, charts, playlists and radio airplay data into Claude, ChatGPT and other clients, so you can ask about them in plain language. It's included with Soundcharts PRO and with API plans. If your team already pays for Soundcharts, it's the natural way to query it: soundcharts.com/en/mcp-server. We compare the two platforms with Chatmu in Chatmu vs Soundcharts vs Chartmetric.
This one deserves a precise description, because people search "Chartmetric MCP" expecting live data. Chartmetric's MCP searches Chartmetric's API documentation: it helps you find endpoints and get answers linked back to the docs. Live data still goes through the Chartmetric API with an access token. Very useful if you're a developer building on their API; it is not a plug-and-play data feed for a manager: apidocs.chartmetric.com/guides/mcp.
Mogul is a royalties platform (it raised $5M in February 2026), and its MCP lets your assistant work with royalty statements, registrations, disputes and catalog data. You add it as a custom connector in Claude with a Mogul account. For songwriters chasing unpaid publishing royalties, it's a focused tool: usemogul.com/mcp. Mogul is also available as a connector inside Chatmu.
Artist Growth launched an MCP for music business operations in July 2026. It connects assistants to live roster data: events, itineraries, project status reports, daily digests, ticket requests, EPKs and budgets. User permissions in Artist Growth carry over to the assistant, which matters for big teams. It's in the ChatGPT app store and can be configured as a custom connector in Claude: artistgrowth.com/mcp.
We built this connector, and it's available inside Chatmu. It covers work search, ISRC lookup, catalog audit, ownership resolution, registration drafts and validation, and bulk export. For publishers and self-published songwriters, it turns a tedious spreadsheet job into a prompt: "Audit my catalog against The MLC and list recordings with no matched work."
Epidemic Sound's MCP (in beta) gives your assistant access to its licensed catalog. You can search by mood, BPM, genre, key, instrument or a reference track. Searching is free; downloading and using music requires a paid Epidemic Sound subscription. Great for video creators and editors: epidemicsound.com/tools/mcp. It's also one of the connectors in Chatmu.
Search "Spotify MCP" and you'll find many open-source servers built by the community. Most of them control playback and playlists for your own account. Spotify doesn't offer an official artist-analytics MCP, so for streaming stats you'll want an analytics server like Chatmu, Soundcharts or Viberate.
Splice has a connector for Claude that searches its royalty-free sample catalog when you describe a sound, and can build stacks of complementary sounds in your Splice library. It requires signing in to your Splice account. It's a good fit for producers looking for sounds without leaving the chat, and Splice is also in Chatmu's connectors catalog.
ahujasid/ableton-mcp is the best-known open-source bridge between Claude and Ableton Live. It lets you create tracks, clips and MIDI by typing, though it controls Live by text and doesn't hear the audio. DAW MCPs deserve their own article, so we're covering them in a dedicated post. Our own take on this, Chatmu Desktop, launches on October 31, starting with Ableton.
Yes. Chatmu MCP includes distribution: you can start a release draft, upload masters and cover art, and submit it for review from Claude, ChatGPT or the Chatmu agent. The wizard checks ISRCs and cover art before submission, artists keep 80% of royalties, and the music stays online if they cancel. We walk through it step by step in how to release music with a distribution MCP.
We couldn't verify a public DistroKid MCP page when writing this, so we don't list one. Check DistroKid's own site for its current status. If what you want is to distribute from inside an AI assistant today, Chatmu MCP does that.
You don't need to write code for any of this. If you'd rather skip the setup, the Chatmu agent already has the connectors in one place.
An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server connects an AI assistant like Claude or ChatGPT to a music tool or dataset, so the assistant can read data and take actions, such as pulling streams or creating a release, from a chat.
For one connection that covers analytics, catalog, distribution, networking, video and social, Chatmu. For a single data source you already pay for, use that provider's MCP (Soundcharts, Viberate, Mogul, Artist Growth).
No. It searches Chartmetric's API documentation. Live data requires the Chartmetric API.
There's a free plan. See chatmu.io/pricing for the paid plans.
Yes. Claude and ChatGPT can connect to several servers, and inside Chatmu you can add your own MCP servers with OAuth and set per-tool permissions.
AI for the industry. Humans for the music.
